Utah Night Skiing

Nestled in Utah’s North East corner near the Idaho border is one of North America’s newest ski areas and one of the Southwest’s largest Night Skiing areas, Cherry Peak.

Cherry Peak, Utah

Founded in 2014, and opened for it’s first Winter season in 2015-16, Cherry Peak was quickly acknowledged as Utah’s newest and largest primarily night skiing operation. However due to their lack of proximity to Salt Lake City and relative modest overall size, Cherry Peak is widely considered a “locals resort”.

Cherry Peak is located just 4 miles East from the small town of Richmond, UT. and 17 miles NE from the larger town of Logan. Nestled up a short windy mountain road in the Bear River Range at an altitude of roughly 5,750ft it’s modest base area leads up to one Northern facing chair lift that ascends through a shaded valley to a height of 6,300ft. From there, two more triple chairs are available to ascend further up a Western facing slope with the Summit chair reaching 7,050ft.

During the week, Cherry Peak operates 2 of it’s 3 lifts plus a magic carpet for night skiing from 5-9pm, and weekends see the Summit chair come to life as well for all day and night skiing from 9am-9pm on Fri-Sat, with Sundays offering daytime turns from 9am-4pm. Most terrain is nicely groomed, although several off piste single black runs can be found intermittently throughout the resort.

On clear nights, Cherry’s Western facing upper slopes offer stunning sunset views, and after the natural light is gone the ample pole lighting takes over, with only a few dim corners to adventure through.
